Gyudmed Tara Temple & Center for Buddhist Studies was co-founded and established by Lobsang Dorjee, Gendun Kalsang, and Lobsang Tsering. The center was financially supported by funds primarily from former Gyudmed monks residing in California, Connecticut, Minnesota, New York, Washington, Russia, and Taiwan.

​On September 21st, 2022, Gyudmed Tara Temple & Center for Buddhist Studies celebrated their grand opening with the
​local Tibetan community in Elmhurst, Queens, New York.
The center continues to thrive with active weekly events that serve the local Tibetan community.
